Is Duck Donuts Worth the Hype?

A Duck Donuts (Garden City Park) has recently opened near me and I finally had the opportunity to give these hand crafted donuts a try.

I know what you are all thinking, "Sami just get to the point, is Duck Donuts worth the hype?". Short answer, yes.

Now it is time for the long answer. The long answer is still yes, but... Do not expect to be in and out within minutes. When I first visited Duck Donuts I was shocked to see how crowded it was on a Thursday at 2PM. Feeling optimistic, I ordered a half dozen of donuts on my thirty minute lunch break. However, after I ordered I found out that my donuts would not be ready for at least a half an hour. I did very little research before visiting, and did not realize Duck Donuts hand makes each donut to order. Don't get me wrong, that is mostly what makes their donuts so delicious. But it did not serve well for the quick pick up I had planned. Thankfully the staff was very accommodating and put my donuts on the side until I could pick them up after work. Side Note: Usually you are able to pre-order donuts, but since this location had just opened, their online ordering was not set up yet.

Go in with a plan

I highly suggest going into Duck Donuts with a plan of what you would like to order. There are so many delicious donut options that it can get overwhelming. I found going in with a game plan helped reduce the stress of ordering on the fly. You can browse Duck Donuts menu here. My half dozen order included

Since each donut is made to order, the donuts come out so fresh and warm. This feature 100% contributes to why these donuts are so delicious and addicting. My favorite was the French Toast, but I found myself loving them all. I was surprised on how great the flavor profile was on the Maple Bacon Donut. The bacon with the maple glaze paired perfectly!

I can't wait to visit again, I have my eye on the donut bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich!
